#REVIEW: Angelfall

Review: Angelfall by Susan Ee

Title: Angelfall
Author: Susan Ee
Publisher: Skyscape
Publish Date: August 28, 2012

Synopsis (via Goodreads): It's been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.
Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.
Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.
Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels' stronghold in San Francisco where she'll risk everything to rescue her sister and he'll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

Cover: The cover depicts Raffe’s wings, and they look really pretty. It actually gives a lot away about the beginning of the book if you think about it. Just the wings. No angel attached.

Characters: This was the only fault I had with the book. I didn’t like the characters. Everything else was fantastic. I don’t feel as if I know a lot about the characters. They weren’t deep, if that makes sense. The only person that I actually know a lot about is Penryn’s mom, and she was a fairly amusing character. She was crazy.
Plot: This plot was amazing. An apocalypse where angels were the bad guys? Talk about original. There were so many plot twists that kept me on the edge. It was just a nice and exciting read.

Ending: I feel so bad for Raffe. He doesn’t deserve what happened to him. It’s just horrible, and I hate Beliel. He’s just a douche. And that doctor lady, I forget her name and despise her too much to look her up. If I ever met her in real life I’d probably smack her. She was not kind at all. But let’s take a moment to cheer for Obi’s people and humanity. We’re awesome!

Overall: This was a good read. I don’t know if I want to read the next one. Probably because I want to know what happens next. There wasn’t really any dull moments that I can recall. It was just the characters that didn’t do it for me. Other than that, it was pretty good.

  1. Ah it's always disappointing when characters fall flat in an otherwise great novel! Angelfall still sounds really interesting; I think I'll have to add it to my TBR list! Thanks for posting your review!!

    1. Yeah, I'm really unsure as whether or not to read the next novel. I think I'll have to because the plot was fantastic, though I really hope the characters are deeper and more three-dimensional.

      Thanks for stopping by!
