My Best Books of 2022
As another year comes to a close, there's a lot of book wrap ups to be done. Apologies if you're sick of these already, but I find these posts fun to look back on especially in a year's time. I think they're great for comparisons, especially if you had posted an anticipated books of the year or whatever.
I read a lot of books this year (50+), but a few stood above the rest. This post is dedicated to the best of the best - the top books of 2022.
Book Lovers by Emily Henry
I loved the dynamic between Nora and Charlie in Book Lovers. One of my favorite tropes is the book writing/store one, so I absolutely loved that in this book. I love literally everything Emily Henry has written.
This Vicious Grace by Emily Thiede
This book.... I had no idea about it until I received it in my Fairyloot subscription but I was so intrigued by the premise. A girl who has killed three spouses? Sign me up. I loved Dante and Alessa and cannot wait for book two in 2023.
All of Us Villains by Amanda Foody and Christine Lynn Herman
You have probably seen a lot about this duology on my blog, but how can I do a best books of 2022 round up without including All of Us Villains? Out of all 50+ books I read, All of Us Villains (and the sequel) was probably my favorite read of the year. Check out my review because I *highly* recommend it.
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna
I think we all need a lovable grump in our lives and Jamie is just that. I bonded so much with the characters and this book was on a fast track to being my favorite of 2022 until the last 60 or so pages. I felt like an entirely unneeded conflict was thrown in to add some drama, and it didn't make sense to me as a reader, especially with how fast they resolved the conflict. Other than that, I loved everything.
Belladonna by Adalyn Grace
Death and Signa, need I say more? This was such a fun, bewitching read for me. I did end up wanting a bit more from the overall plot since the concept was so intriguing, but I'm hoping book two will provide the more I so desperately crave.
Blood of the Lotus by Sade Louise
I was grateful to have received an ARC of this debut indie novel, and Blood of the Lotus was one that stuck with me long after finishing. I love my swoon worthy love interests, and Luka was just that. I'm really big in a demon phase right now, so Blood of the Lotus scratched the good itch. I loved the mystery and intrigue. The fighting was well-written. I enjoyed just about everything in this book.
There were definitely some others but with them being Harper Collins owned/imprints, I did not include them in solidarity with the HarperCollins Union.
This was such a fun thing to do! I loved getting the chance to look back on everything I read this year and decide which ones stood out to me the most. Sometimes when I read a book, later I have no recollection of reading it, but that's not the case with any of these!
What are you best books of 2022? Let me know in the comments. Happy holidays!
