NOTE: I had so many feels at the end of this book (which was when I decided to write this review) so I hope this review is somewhat coherent. It's just one of those books that had me squealing long after I closed it.
The Replacement Crush is probably the cutest book I’ve read in awhile. It was one of those books that made you have a cheesy grin on your face through parts of it. In other parts, I was screaming at how stupid she was.
This book had everything: hot nerds (McNerds), rock stars, Star Trek jokes, bookstores and bookworms, school drama, journalism, and even a talent show. Pretty much take an epic moment or item and you could probably find it in this book.This book never bored me (and I do bore easily when reading contemporary.) I was rooting for Dallas since I met him. Can I have a McNerd please? This boy could literally do anything. Cellist, coder, had manners, hot, he had me swooning every time he cracked a super nerdy joke. He added a lot to the story, but he may have been a perfect polly (Or whatever the male version of that is).
Vivian’s plan of finding a replacement crush was dumb from the get-go. I knew it was a bad idea, but she didn’t. Taking advice from Spock probably wasn’t the best idea. Viv was a kind soul. She helped her mom run their bookstore. She was friendly with the homeless guys. She overcame a weight issue. But when it came to the guy that she’d been crushing on for years, all of her judgement flew out the window. I’m talking flew.
She was so focused on finding her perfect match, she ended up hurting everyone in the process. All to get over some measly crush. In this process, she didn’t think about her friend’s happiness or others. She was using people just as Jake used her.I just really enjoyed reading this story. It made me smile. I really need to read more books with nerds; they’re just great. The Replacement Crush was adorable. The plot just had me dying for more.
