#REVIEW: Opposition

Review: Opposition by Jennifer L. Armentrout (AND ENTIRE LUX SERIES)

Title: Opposition
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Series: Lux Series #5
Publisher: Entangled Teen
Publish Date: August 5, 2014

Opposition is the last book in the Lux series. This review is over Opposition and some of the Lux series in general. What I mean is that parts of this review will relate to Opposition only, but some of it will just relate to the Lux series.

The LUX series is over! I don't know what I'm going to do with my life tbh

Cover: I got the Opposition special collector’s edition for Christmas. I really like the simplicity of the cover. Daemon looks fabulous, and I love the shiny reflective stuff on the cover (I have no idea what it’s called). But it looks really cool. ANd then Shadows was included in it, so I was surprised. I didn’t really look at the cover before I started reading it, but then later I discovered that there were two books in one. So that’s pretty cool.

Characters: One of the reasons why I love this series so much is because it has amazing characters. I absolutely adore each and every character in the Lux series. All of them were sarcastic at moments when they probably shouldn’t be, and they all had guts. Throughout this series and even now, I think of the characters as real people. I could just picture them perfectly. This is just a great group of characters which is essential for a great novel/series.

Daemon is my favorite character of all. I just love his douchey self. I found him amusing at all times throughout the novel which was great. Also, he’s like incredibly hot and and alien so those are pluses.

Katy is fantabulous (I created that word). She is actually one of my role models. She is the reason I started this blog. I even named it after hers. When I read Obsidian, I could see myself as Katy. That’s who I pictured her as, a tanner version of myself. I related so much to her. That’s another reason I connected to these books.

Dee is hilarious. I loved when she was in a scene because she was great for comic relief. She was just awesome, and I would love to have her as a best friend.

Nancy was the perfect evil villain. I despised her from the moment she was introduced, but I had a strange fascination with her. I wanted to know what her next move was going to be.

Luc was very mysterious. I couldn’t get a read on him, and I still don’t have a read on him. I would love to read a book about him and his journey. I just want to know more about the mysterious Origin.

Dawson and Bethany are adorable though I feel for them. They’ve been through so much yet they still love each other. I’ll put more on them in my Shadows review once I finish it.

Plot: The plot of Opposition was a bit out there. Cities were being destroyed as aliens took over the world, but it fit the novel and the series. All of the novels in the series lead up to this. I’ve read them so many times, I could make connections between all of them. Like I would point out foreshadowing and such. The plot was mostly believable, but there were some points I was like ‘what?!’

I didn’t really understand the aliens being connected before. I don’t think it was ever mentioned in the earlier novels, just Opposition but I might be wrong. Also, one thought came to me while reading about it, does that mean that Dee, Daemon, Dawson, Ash, Andrew, Matthew, and Adam could read each others thoughts? Were they always inside each others heads?

One would think they would be, but I have no idea. I don’t remember anything like that ever being mentioned. I kind of wanted to ask JLA about it.

Also, one thing that I didn’t find believable was Katy kicking Sadi’s booty. Sadi is an Origin who is one of the most powerful beings, and Katy is just a hybrid. Sure, she is strong, but they used Origins to keep the Luxen in line. I just didn’t find that believable. Maybe if someone else worked with Katy to fight her, but not with just Katy fighting her.

Ending: It was kind of a happy ending. I mean a lot of people died, but the main characters lived.

They kicked some serious booty throughout the novels. The world was saved from an alien invasion. And aliens now had to be registered. So I guess it wasn’t very happy for them. (It did mention that some humans didn’t take to kindly to the aliens). It was happy for most of the human race. I wish it would have gone into detail about how the humans cleaned up after all of the destruction. Like I wonder what was the priority. And did LA every recover from the electric bomb thing (I forget what it’s called and I’m too lazy to go back and look)?

(SPOILERS)I really liked how all of the books were connected. All ties seemed to be wrapped up nicely. I can’t think of anything off the top of my head that I question except the ones from above. I really didn’t predict the ending. I almost cried when Daemon almost died. I was about to throw the book, but I needed to know what happened next so I didn’t. (END SPOILERS)

Overall: It was a great ending to a great series. I really love these books, and I know I shove it into your face a lot on this blog. I can relate everything to this series. These are my favorite books. I’ve read Obsidian seven times, and I’ll probably read it seven more. I can always count on the Lux series to put on a smile on my face with the witty characters, amazing plot, and great storytelling by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I really love her as an author. She is absolutely amazing, and I recommend you read all of her books. That is something you won’t regret.
